Elyse Haren is a classy, sassy, dark-haired storyteller with an ethereal mystique. She is real, with nothing contrived, making music on her own terms and her own merits. She possesses the soul of an unbridled rocker; untameable, distinctive, and moody. Elyse Haren creates intelligent, unique, addictive and gritty music that has something to say as well. Her sound overflows with passion and power, and her songs are underlined with integrity, conviction, and vulnerability. After graduating college, Elyse fell down the "music" rabbit hole in 2000 at a Fleetwood Mac concert. Captivated by the adrenaline-fueled opening kick drum courtesy of Mick Fleetwood, the unmistakable tone of Lindsay Buckingham's guitar, the blend of lead and backing vocals, plus the roar of the crowd and the energy behind it, she hasn't looked back since. Consumed by writing songs, playing guitar, and even some piano, bass, and engineering, Elyse loses herself in the process of creating unforgettable melodies and crafting poetic ways of expressing her most honest thoughts, topped off with a rockin' yet intimate vocal. Elyse Haren has played shows all over LA, either solo or with her band. Past shows include: Knitting Factory, The Rainbow, The Viper Room, and The Roxy. However, recording her own home demos is where she developed her signature sound-- her own place to shine. Elyse has written and recorded dozens of songs with different producers and through those unreleased songs found investors to match her contribution to make her first full length album. Unwilling to settle, Elyse sought out the team to make the album that deserves to be made. After a meeting with producers Brett Chassen and Bob Kulick, the choice was clear. Both were straight-forward New Yorkers like Elyse, so they all decided to embark on making her album. She then recruited engineer/bass player Robin Holden along with guitarist Greg Pajer and drummer Blake Paulson. This mighty bunch is currently in the studio tracking her debut full length album "Shut up and Listen!" scheduled for release in 2008. Stay tuned for new video segments in and out of the studio!

Story behind the song
an actual converation where someone said the words "I'd feel dirty" to me....
Lyrics
Damaged (key: Am bpm) Once again you offer yourself, To someone who cannot love Why do you want the ones, that you can't touch? Don't you know you can't get enough? When you keep me at arms length can Do you see you mistake? I'll never get what I want Cause you are damaged, Don't apologize, Oh I don't know why I thought you'd let me in... Cause you feel dirty, And you'll only hurt me With your broken smile... Like the one who damaged you. All at once you offer me, support no strings attached. How can we choose to look at love, and sex as something that cannot mesh... When your arms are around me, the potential energy But you'll never get what you'll never what you want. Because I am damaged, won’t apologize, Oh I don't know why I thought you'd let me in... Because you feel dirty, and you'll only hurt me with your broken smile... Like the one who damaged you. All you wanted was a soft place I fall But no one made you feel that safe You’re the only one who ever mattered Who treated you, treated you that way Once again you offer yourself, It's all a game of trust Why do you want the ones that you can't touch? Don't you know you can't get enough? When I keep you at arms length can you see my heartache? Because I'll never get what I want... Because you are damaged, Don't apologize, Oh I don't know why I thought you'd let me in... Cause you feel dirty, And you'll only hurt me With your broken smile... Like the one who damaged... We're all damaged, don't apologize I don't know why I you just can't let me in Cause you feel dirty And you only hurt me With your broken smile Like the one who damaged you

Like a little sun on a bumpsy skin, your voice and soul enjoyed mine. Probably your lyrics freed. It's a pity to hear only 2 tracks, part of your freedom I guess.
