This is a slightly more 'crunchy' arrangement of a great song by Liverpool band, Wild Swans. It's from their 1988 album, 'Bringing Home The Ashes ... it's nothing to do with Test Match Cricket by the way!

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
As you know, I've always preferred clever melodic Pop (so called Brit-Pop) to harder Rock styles. This is a song from that very inventive era of UK Pop. I've given the guitar sound a bit of a 'boost' in this arrangement compared to the original version. There's a pleasant e-bow solo taking the song out.
Lyrics
Northern England (Paul Simpson) (c)1988 guitar intro: Days, braving the wild winds and years building this ark. While prayers, go unanswered, just seeds blown in the dark. Bring back that spark, to Northern England soon. How much longer must we mourn for you? Days, have passed without number, since blood spilt on the stones. I'm, courting disaster and I'm, close to the bone. Bring back that spark, to Northern England soon. How much longer must we mourn for you? Bring back that spark, to Northern England soon. How much longer must we mourn for you? Northern England ... guitar solo: Bring back that spark, to Northern England soon. How much longer must we mourn for you? Bring back that spark, to Northern England soon. How much longer must we mourn for you? Northern England ... e-bow guitar solo: Northern England ...

This is really good! Like the jump to wide stereo and then back to centered... another jump to wide stereo... very trippy. Tasty guitar. We always give it to George when we hear your guitar. "see? why can't you do it like David, George?" and he rolls his eyes and does whatever he was going to do anyway. Good boy. Don't take our guff. This is something. Well done.
