A story from my life
dad player
Artist picture
I have been writing from the time I could play my guitar at 12 years old, I'm 72 now and for the last few years I've been writing Christian music.
I'm a good ole boy from Georgia. As I've gotten older, I feel I have a calling from God to write Christian music. There are enough of my old lady done left with my dog songs. I'm sharing the good news of Jesus to an increasingly damaged world.

Story behind the song
I found a picture of my estranged dad playing a guitar.
Lyrics
He was a guitar player too 2015 By Donnie Priest My Mom and Dad called it quits I was young, so long ago I have questions of those days There are answers Ill never know I grew up without my Dad Vague memories come and go Old photographs are all I have I get them out sometimes to show. (Pre-chorus) To forgive is sometimes hard So much you dont understand Until you walk a mile in their shoes Its hard to be the bigger man (chorus) I dont recall the sound, of his voice How can I, miss the man I never knew? All I can tell from the photographs He was a guitar player too I was raised strong and proud Fairly sane I do believe Dont let the past get me down Theres no reason to grieve With a family of my own I try to give them what they need I try to learn from mistakes I work hard to succeed (Pre-chorus) I dont use what might have been As a reason for me to fail I dont try to make excuses Keep my shoulder to the wheel (chorus) I dont recall the sound, of his voice How can I, miss the man I never knew? All I can tell from the photographs He was a guitar player too (outro) Those black and white photographs I sometime retrieve to view All I know from the pictures He was a guitar player too All I know from the photographs He was a guitar player too
