I got a Roy Rogers guitar with song book for Christmas in 1958. I learned a little and put it aside. In '63 a kid brought his electric guitar to school and played "Pipeline" at our sock hop. It looked easy, so I started a garage band. Eventually, I needed money for gas and dates, so I got a real job. We disbanded in '66, but best friend, Freddie, and I kept jamming over the years. We recently worked on a song he wrote and it inspired me to write my own music. Please listen and post a message.

Story behind the song
I used to know a girl who lived on the river....
Lyrics
I went down to the river to wash away my pain That’s where I saw something that I could not explain Like a girl 'cross the river dancing in the rain Ch1 Roll on river gypsy Last night I dreamed of you alone Way across in your riverside home River gypsy roll on V2 This old river keeps on rolling right on out into the sea That brackish water keeps right on flowing constantly Got to get across this river to see my sweet baby Ch2 Roll on river gypsy Last night I dreamed you were gone I thought I saw your empty riverside home River gypsy roll on V3 So this morning I decided to reach the other side I jumped into the water, swimming with the tide That’s where I found my baby and now I’m satisfied Ch3 Roll on river gypsy I was hoping you'd still be there at dawn You’re the reason I was swimming so strong River gypsy roll on Repeat Chorus 3 - (Line 3 & 4) You’re the reason I'm singing this song River gypsy roll on.... River gypsy roll on

Butch, You really have an amazing skill, you are one heck of a lyricist and a great songwriter, The vocals got a bit muddy here but the song turned out wonderful!!!
