A song about Dad's never ending quest

Artist picture
I got a Roy Rogers guitar with song book for Christmas in 1958. I learned a little and put it aside. In '63 a kid brought his electric guitar to school and played "Pipeline" at our sock hop. It looked easy, so I started a garage band. Eventually, I needed money for gas and dates, so I got a real job. We disbanded in '66, but best friend, Freddie, and I kept jamming over the years. We recently worked on a song he wrote and it inspired me to write my own music. Please listen and post a message.

Story behind the song
We moved 6 times during my elementary school days.
Lyrics
Dad worked graveyard to feed his family Jobs were hard to keep at the factory When he got laid off and times turned hard We waved goodbye to Grandma watching from her yard CHORUS Highway call, headlights in my eyes Looking for a station and eating cold French fries Stopping for gas and some fast food to go I still get a lonesome feeling from the dashboard’s glow For the next year or two things were going good But when the job was over we all understood I became an expert at packing up my stuff I even tried pretending the highway made me tough CHORUS - INSTRUMENTAL – CHORUS FINALE Old Dad worked hard for years on end Said he’d retire when his ship came in Searching for a rainbow till the highway took it’s toll He’s driving to glory for that last highway call
