In America

Freedom comes at a very high cost in this world. I'm very thankful that some of my ancestors were willing to pay the price that I am able to enjoy the privelege of that freedom in America today.

Hi, The first thing I'll admit is, I'm no musician. My gift is lyrics, and I am always on the lookout for collaborators to improve on what I've been given. So, if you give me a listen, please make sure you hear the lyrics. The exception is,"In America", which a friend of mine took under his wing and did amazing things with.

Story behind the song
I think we need, in this country, to appreciate the freedom we enjoy. We also need to appreciate the men and women who lay their lives on the line to keep us free.

In America Verse1: They stepped out of the vessel into a brand new world The waves were flowing endlessly on that Northeastern shore Some of those first footprints were footprints of my own in America, in America, Verse 2: They spread out from the shoreline to South and North and West They fought the barren Winters They fought for every breath They buried many loved ones and courage lead the rest in America, in America, Chorus: Oh, I will never lay down and let her spirit die My forefather's fire glows behind these burning eyes They gave their lives for freedom and the blood they shed is mine in America Verse 3: They built the mighty cities and plowed the barren plains They lifted up their armaments oh, time and time again that we may have a country standing strong against the wind in America, in America, Verse 4: They fought to keep this soil free and many gave their blood through the many sands of time for country and for love showing freedom isn't free it's something we fight for in America, in America, Chorus: Chorus 2: Oh, their blood is in the soil and within this heart of mine I will fight for freedom and for freedom I will die that we will keep this country free throughout the sands of time in America Walter W. Great lyrics. I am ancestor of Czech immigrants and my grandmother who is still living at 92 tells the stories of her journey to our great country. This song really says everything I feel we should all remember.
