punk track I wrote with John (he had this unreal riff which I knew would make a great song so I went about adding to it aiming for that late 70's og punk vibe) Kath's vocals have been remixed to bring them up - it's frenetic energy that drives this!

some people get by with a little understanding, some people get by with a whole lot more..
think back to when Gary Numan wrote and recorded 'Cars' in 1979 and if we don't think we've lost something we're crazy...but if we think it's coming back anytime soon then we are complete fools... can you still recall in the juke box hall when the music played and the world spun round to a brand new sound in those far off days.. in their blue suede shoes they would scream and shout as they sang the blues, let it all hang out.. rock and roll..

Story behind the song
inspired by Elvis Costello's title 'King of America' I went with a real want to create a punk sound reminiscent of the 70's UK punk explosion (I'm thinking actually more like our own Brisbane based Saints sound i.e.. - I'm Stranded, which charted well in the UK in '76) It's a fast paced, frenetic track on speed this one, just like punk should be!
Lyrics
I'm livin' in the USA And I'm livin' my own way I only take what I need Here in the land of the free I give it all for a better way I give it all for another day I only take what's mine to take I'm sleeping sound yet wide awake Living in the USA Ok, so I'm king in the USA And I'm free to go my way I only give what I wanna give Got free choice on how I live I live it all for a better way I live it all for another day I only want what's mine to have I'm not wired to understand sav Living in the USA I'm still standing in the USA I still got one quarter to play I only yield to what's mine to give I've only got one life to live Only want what's mine to have

I remember the Punk era well snd this could have been easily recorded back then. Captured the Punk genre perfectly. I can imagine walking into a basement venue in London and the band playing this on stage. Fantastic stuff Greg.

Yeah that is a great guitar riff driving the song . Vocals add to the punk vibe . I’ve never really performed punk but love the energy it provides and that’s a great frantic ending !
