Song for my sons - passing on the wisdom of this world's rhythm.
Story behind the song
I wrote this song for my sons. They love the outdoors and they love life.
One of the earliest ideas I had for this song was about how you can look many places in nature and see “love” being lived. For example, the trees first give us their shade, then their fruit and finally, they give us shelter when their sacrifice is total. Animals can give us leather and wool for our protection and then, with their sacrifice, food for our journey. Our pets give us comfort, loyalty and friendship with virtually nothing expected in return. The sun and rain have been giving and nurturing the renewal and refreshment of Mother Earth forever, giving life and breath to all. Without the sun and rain, there can be no love on Earth. Loving unconditionally is all around us all the time, it is the adventure of life itself, the reason for being. I just wanted to share these thoughts with them.
Lyrics
Sons of Thunder
4/7/16
Verse 1
We cross, rocky bluffs, of a Royale Isle
Paddle the Boundary Water
A quest from Mother Nature
We are restless for this trial
Won’t you share the wisdom, of this world’s rhythm?
Chorus (Mother Nature)
Love is sacrifice, love is surrender
First moments, then hours and days
I freely give my life away
Love is written everywhere, love is the adventure
Verse 2
Why here, why now, why this life?
Where's the meaning when we suffer?
How can we live, as Sons of Thunder?
Speak mother, of life's birthright
Chorus (Mother Nature)
Love is sacrifice, love is surrender
First moments, then hours and days
I freely give my life away
Love is written everywhere, love is the adventure
Bridge (Mother Nature)
You don’t need my help, to solve your quest
It’s right there, etched in your hearts,
Written in red, just love and have no fear
Have no fear
Last Chorus (Mother Nature)
Love is sacrifice, love is surrender
First moments, then hours and days
I freely give my life away
Love is written everywhere, love is the adventure
Tag (Mother Nature)
Love is written everywhere, love is the adventure
I love my Sons of Thunder
