A music tale of my one and only trip to Austin Texas in 2016 for an IT Conference at the Austin Convention Center home of Austin CIty Limits. Town is a musical mecca. I wondered into this Jazz Bar called the Elephant Room. What a great evening!
A telling of my trip to the Elephant Room a jazz club in Austin TX. I wrote the words back in 2016 during the trip and kept them and finally came up with some music to fit it...
Elephant Room
Words/Music Tony DeLecce 11/2016 and 2/2024
Walking down the sidewalk looking for something to do
I ran into a bar called the Elephant Room
I walked down the steps to a darkened basement room
I heard the band playing a familiar Jazz tune
VERSE2
I took a seat in the corner by the stage in front of the band
I saw the guitarist fingers and I heard the Baby Grand
I ordered a tall Beer as the singer joined the band
I was flying high already when she took me by the hand
VERSE3
The Bass was laying the groove the band was setting the mood
The singer was taking them higher all the way up to the moon
They came back to earth in time for the next tune
as the crowd began to filter into the elephant room
BRIDGE
Don't ask me how I got here I dont know
Some things in life turn out that way
If I had turned left two blocks ago
I would have missed the show
LEAD GUITAR BREAK
My friend from work he found me asked me where did I go
I said the music called to me I had to see the show
I walked down these steps into the Elephant Room
I'm sorry that I lost you I couldnt leave these tunes
VERSE5
I hope you understand now that your in the Elephant Room
Why dont you order a beer and get some food
I promise we can leave here right after the show
Please dont make me leave here I dont want to go
VERSE6
He said that I will stay here as long as there is beer
I have nowhere else to be so I might as well be here
Thats why I came down the steps to the Elephant Room
I knew that he would find me as soon as he heard the tunes
